This recipe came from my cousin’s babysitter that passed away quite a while ago. It’s funny because when I told my friend Hannah that I had “THE BEST CARMEL RECIPE EVER” it turns out that her favorite recipe was almost identical to this one…hers just had less Vanilla. Anyway, here goes:
1 C Butter (melted)
2 &¼ C Brown Sugar
1 C Karo (don’t sub. w/agave, end product is super grainy)
1 Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
Bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Cook until at firm ball stage.
2 T Vanilla (don’t forget this step)
This is great for Candied Apples and Pecan Logs. I like to just pour it into a buttered dish though and let it come to room temperature.
