Hi there! Join Sarah on Facebook and Pinterest to keep up with what’s new at lifeshouldcostless.
Shortly after I got married, I began the search to find a Nativity just like my mom and grandma’s… Year after year after year (I’ve been married a decade+, so I’m not exaggerating) I have been searching. I have tried googling things like plain white nativity scene, unpainted nativity, milk glass style or looking nativity, plain ceramic nativity…and about 50 other variations every single year. Guess what??? I FINALLY FOUND IT and it is GORGEOUS!
Guess where it was? In an Etsy shop! I was super giddy and asked the shop owner if she would give you all, my readers, a discount and she said she would (I’m a brat and am making you read to the end of the post to see how though ;).
I’ve always thought that this set was just so classy looking! I like a crisp, clean, white finish and this one is in Mother of Pearl so it is all of those things AND has the nice shine to it.
I decided that my antique mirror had kind of a “stable-y” look to it so it would be a great back drop. Anyway, here are some close-ups. Oh, and in case you missed it, my last post was making the burlap piano runner/topper and you can find that tutorial here.
I only had one lamp to go with it and Wal-Mart no longer carries a matching one, so one lamp will have to do. I don’t think it matters too much though because the camels take up so much space on the right that I think the lamp evens it out a bit. This room gets super dark without the lamp so it stays, I just wanted to show you what it looks like with and without it in the shot. I am too cheap to buy two new lamps when I can make this one lamp work.
Don’t mind my poor, beat up piano. The people I bought it from had it in their shed and I haven’t had time to refinish it yet. Right now it’s not really playable, but it’s doing a good job at being the world’s largest paper-weight.
So how do you save 10%? When you buy this Nativity (it’s a link so click on it) and go to check out, mention/leave a comment for the shop owner (Katharine Tribble) that Sarah at lifeshouldcostless.com sent you and she will refund you 10%…it’s just that easy! Yes, ceramic is a bit on the expensive side, but this is a once in a life-time, gets passed down to an adult grand-child kind of expense. My kids are going to have to rip it out of my cold dead hands…lol, a little morbid but it is way past my bedtime and I’m sick… but you get what I’m saying. It takes a couple of weeks to get it, so order it ASAP if you’re going to get one for this Christmas. That is why I’m posting this before Thanksgiving, so forgive the holiday skipping. ~Sarah
*No, the shop owner is not giving me a kick-back for your purchase. I just love this set so much I wanted to see if any of you might like to buy it too and save some money on it. Please share this post with anyone that would like it too* Merry Christmas!
